Ranked in the top 200 in the 2014 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking by subject for Chemical Engineering.

The only private university in Malaysia to be ranked in the top 200 for the 2014 QS Asia University Rankings.

Ranked at 335 for the 2014 QS World University Rankings under Engineering and Technology Faculty.

  • Centre of Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research (CISIR) is recognised as National Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HiCoE) by Ministry of Education.
  • Fourteenth Convocation Ceremony with 1278 graduates.

The only private university in Malaysia to be rated a 4-star institution by QS, with a maximum 5-star rating in five areas out of eight, namely Employability, Internationalisation, Innovation, Facilities and Inclusiveness.


2015

Additional three subjects made it to the 2015 QS World University Ranking by Subject: Electrical & Electronic Engineering (201-250) , Mechanical Engineering (201-250) and Computer Science & Information Systems (301-350).

 

June

UTP was ranked 151-160 in Asia and is still Malaysia's only private university in the Top 200 QS Asian University Ranking 2015.

 

September

UTP improved its ranking from 335 to 288 in QS World University Ranking 2015 for Engineering & Technology Faculty.

 

October

  • Proclamation of YBhg. Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin as Pro Chancellor.
  • Fifteenth Convocation Ceremony with 1154 graduates.

UTP is the only private university in Malaysia to be rated 6-star under MyRA.


2016

 

March

QS World University Ranking by Subject acknowledged Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering subjects as top 150 and 200, respectively.  While Electrical & Electronics is at top 250 and Computer & Information Sciences at top 350.

 

June

UTP improved its standing in the QS Asian University Rankings 2016, moving up to 127.

 

September

  • UTP debuted in the 2016/17 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, entering in the 601-650 band.  It is the only private university to make it into the rankings. 
  • UTP made its first appearance in the QS Top 50 under 50 and was ranked in the 91-100 band. The ranking is based on the world's best universities that are less than 50 years old.
  • UTP made its debut in The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2016/2017. UTP and five Malaysian research universities, UKM, UPM, USM and UTM are all ranked in the 601-800 band.

November

  • UTP retained its 6-star rating for MyRA 2015.
  • Proclamation of Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as Chancellor of UTP.  
  • Sixteenth Convocation Ceremony with 1469 graduates.​

UTP made it to the Top 100 of the prestigious THE Brics & Emerging Economies Ranking 2017 for the first time.

January

  • UTP celebrated its 20th anniversary on 10 January.
  • UTP new R&D Building was officially opened by YB Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh Minister of Higher Education.

  • Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering maintained their ranking positions in the Top 150 and 200 respectively in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. Similarly, Electrical & Electronic Engineering & Computer Science & Information Systems also remained in the top 200 and 300 respectively. Meanwhile, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering maintained their position as Top 150 and Top 200 respectively.
  • Improved its ranking from 288  to 233 in the QS World University Ranking 2017 for Engineering & Technology Faculty.
  • Debuted into the THE Asia University Rankings 2017, ranking it at the 141-150 band.

  • Improved its standing in the QS Asian University Rankings 2018, moving up to 101.

  • Awarded ISO 9001:2015 under the scope of "Provision of Education Services for Undergraduate Levels Including Design & Development of Programmes".
  • Achieved 6-Star or Outstanding status in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education 2017 (SETARA 2017) under the Mature University category.

January

Organisation structure and nomenclatures of UTP revised.

 

February

UTP leaped 33 places from last year and is now ranked 114th in Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2018.

  • Leaped 88 places to rank 145th in the 2018 QS World University Rankings by Broad Subject of Engineering and Technology.  UTP has also been ranked in four subjects, Top 150 in the world for Chemical Engineering, Top 200 for Mechanical Engineering, Top 250 for Electrical Engineering and Top 300 for Computer Science & Information System. 
  • UTP retained its 6-Star Rating under the MyRA system.

  • UTP ranked 77th in the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies Rankings 2018 from its previous ranking of 91st. 
  • UTP climbed 80 places into the rank range of 521-530 in the QS World University Rankings 2019 from 601-630
