​Research Attachment Programme

Programme Details

Open for all postgraduate student, academician, and scholar who wanted to broaden and enhance their research experience through Research Attachment Programme (RAP) with partner universities around the globe.Eligible Malaysian students entitled to get financial assistance from YUTP up to 50%.

Programme Period

Minimum of 2 months until 12 months depending on mutual agreement by Host University

Programme Eligibility

  1. Open for all full time undergraduate (not applicable for RAP) or postgraduate student in their Home University with minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent
  2. Fulfil English requirements (for non-English speaking countries):
    • Minimum IELTS score of 5.0 / CEFR B1 OR - a minimum TOEFL PBT (410– 413) / IBT (34) OR
    • Minimum Cambridge English: Advance (CAE) (160) / CEFR B2 / CPE (180) OR
    • Minimum of Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) (180) / CEFR C1 OR
    • Minimum Pearson Test of English (PTE) score 36 OR
    • Minimum MUET (Malaysian University English Test) Band 3
  3. No financial outstanding, satisfactory financial ability for the whole duration of the programme
  4. Not undergoing SIIP during programme duration
  5. Excellent Co-Curricular and good disciplinary record
  6. Agree to be responsible for the total cost incurred
  7. Student may seek other sources of sponsors beyond YUTP & Zakat (for Muslim only)
  8. Nominated by UTP

 

Application Process

  1. Find a Supervisor
    1. Find the department or research centre that are most relevant to your area of interest.
    2. Approach the potential supervisor.
    3. Confirmation from applicant to accept the placement offered by the potential supervisor under the agreed terms and conditions. i.e. research topic, funding, duration, etc.
  2. Complete online application

  3. Submit required documents;
    1. UTP-RAP Supervisor Request Form
    2. Passport-size photo with white background (in JPEG format)
    3. Scanned Copy of Passport (Recommended passport validity duration is 12 months from the traveling date. Include ALL pages (bio-data, all pages that are stamped during your travel, blank pages, and front and back pages))
    4. Recommendation letter from a supervisor of your study programme
    5. Copy of all academic transcripts or other related certificates
    6. A copy of student’s matric card – front and back pages in a single page
  4. Updated cv
    Students need to submit all required documents to norain.ghusli@utp.edu.my / khairulanam.chemat@utp.edu.my / csdmobility@utp.edu.my. Please refer to the “Guidelines and Samples of Documents Required” before submitting your documents.
  5. Undergo YUTP Interview (if any)

Programme Fee

May varies depending on country origin, programme package and duration offered by Host University. Fee is to be made to the Host University

Additional Information

  1. Other expenses
    Applicants are advice to look up important information such as pre-departure checklist, bench-fees (if any), visa, accommodation, cost of living, insurance, etc. when applying for RAP at particular country.
  2. Accommodation
    You will need to source for your own accommodation.
