Irwan Kamaruddin bin Abd. Kadir, born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 1974, is a dedicated Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM). His academic journey began with primary education at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Sapong, Tenom, followed by secondary schooling at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Mantailang, Tenom; Sabah College, Kota Kinabalu; and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Gunsanad, Keningau.
Irwan earned his Bachelor of Library Science (Hons) in 1997 from UiTM (formerly ITM), followed by a Master’s in Records and Archives Management in 2000 from the University of Liverpool. In 2014, he completed his PhD in Information Management from UiTM, cementing his expertise in the field.
Professionally, Irwan began as a Librarian at Kolej Bandar Utama before transitioning to Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad as a Business Development Executive. He eventually found his true calling in academia, joining UiTM, where he now lectures on records management, archives administration, and the concept of corporate memory, a subject he is deeply passionate about within the information science world.
Outside of his professional life, Irwan enjoys reading, traveling, and occasional trekking adventures in the woods. He also cherishes time by the beach, finding solace in its tranquility. Irwan strongly advocates for the preservation of memories, encouraging others to safeguard their knowledge and experiences as a valuable legacy for future generations.
