Below tuition fees are effective starting from January 2020 intake.

Please note that the commitment fee is part of tuition fees, which will be forfeited if applicants fail to register at the University or withdraw from the programme after registration.

Important Notes

The above fees for Research are on an annual basis. However, the fees will be aggregated and charged every semester.
All fees are correct at the time of this page for the current intake year. The Management of UTP reserves the right to revise fees as and when required.

Other Matters for Consideration

Candidates are advised to prepare sufficient funds to cover the following expenses:

Hostel rental of approximately RM260 per month
Food and beverage cost of approximately RM500 per month
Purchase of a personal laptop if do not previously own one
Transportation costs

Financial Assistance

i) UTP Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA)

For full-time PhD research student only.

Minimum CGPA of 3.25/4.00 (for Bachelor's degree)

Covers tuition fee and research methodology fee (first attempt only).

Student to pay for Resources Fee (RM2,400 annually for Full-Time mode) and Viva Voce Fee (RM3,000).

The registration fee during admission, accommodation, transportation, viva voce examination fee and annual university semester fee are not covered under this scheme and shall be borne by the recipient.

Candidates will be required to perform 84 hours of teaching assistantship activities per semester in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities.

Candidates will be required to perform 22 research days per month.

Monthly subsistence allowance: RM3,000.00 (PhD students).

ii) UTP Graduate Research Assistantship Scheme (GRA)

For full-time research student only.

Minimum CGPA of 3.25/4.00. (for Bachelor's degree)

Covers tuition fee and research methodology fee (first attempt only).

Student to pay for Resources Fee (RM2,400 annually for Full-Time mode) and Viva Voce Fee (RM3,000).

Candidates will be required to perform 84 hours of teaching assistantship activities per semester in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities.

Candidates will be required to perform 22 research days per month.

Monthly subsistence allowance: Based on grant affordability (MSc & PhD students).

iii) Employee Provident Fund (EPF) Withdrawal Scheme

For Malaysian students only.

Available for both full-time and part-time research and coursework students.

iv) HRDF Claimable (SBL Scheme)

A programme designed to assist employers in retraining and upgrading the skills and knowledge of their employees.

Under the Skim Bantuan Latihan (SBL) Scheme, employers who sponsor their employee(s) for postgraduate studies at UTP can claim the tuition fees from HRDF.

Type of Training/Programme Covered: Long Term Development Programme involving Academic Qualification.
