How to Apply


Step 1: Before You Apply

  1. Please prepare scanned copies of the following documents in PDF format for upload during the online application process:

    • Identity Card (MyKad) for Malaysian applicants (for MyKad, please provide a crossed copy marked "For UTP Use Only").
    • Recent passport-sized photograph with a blue background (JPEG/GIF format only), front-facing, measuring 45 mm (height) × 35 mm (width).
    • Complete Official Academic Transcripts and Degree Certificates/Scrolls for Bachelor's and Master's qualifications (where applicable). Documents issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by an official English translation.
    • Research Proposal (required for applicants applying to Research Mode programmes only).
    • English Language Proficiency Certificate (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, MUET, or equivalent), in accordance with the programme entry requirements.
    • Proof of payment of the non-refundable application processing fee of RM50.00 (U-pay).
    • Sponsorship Letter (if applicable) or Financial Guarantee/Supporting Documents demonstrating sufficient financial capability to support the entire duration of study.
    • Any other relevant documents that may support your application.                                            
    Applicants are advised to ensure that they meet all programme entry requirements and submit all required supporting documents when completing the online application.

    Please note that applications will be assessed based on the completeness of the submitted documents and compliance with the programme's entry requirements. Applications with incomplete documentation or those that do not meet the minimum entry requirements may not be considered for admission.

    Applicants who are unable to provide the required documents at the time of application are encouraged to apply for a subsequent intake once all supporting documents are available.​

Step 2: Online Application

  1. Log in to the Online Application Portal
  2. Please keep a record of the email address and password used for your online application, as these credentials will be required for future access, including checking your application status and receiving updates.
  3. Ensure that all information provided in the Online Application Form is accurate, complete, and up to date.
  4. Once you have completed all required sections and uploaded the necessary supporting documents, proceed to the "Programme" tab and select the programme you wish to apply for.
  5. Review your application carefully before submission.
  6. Click the "Apply" button to submit your application. Please note that your application will only be considered successfully submitted after you have clicked the "Apply" button.
  7. Upon successful submission, you will receive a confirmation notification acknowledging receipt of your online application.

Important Dates

Postgraduate by Research

Applications for our postgraduate research programs are open all year. Once you apply, the University will review your submission and place you in the upcoming semester intake that fits best (January, May, or September).
