ChE Student Chapters
The Chemical Engineering Department is supported by two internationally recognised student chapters: Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). These student chapters serve as professional platforms that bridge academic learning with real-world chemical engineering practice. Through technical talks, industrial visits, workshops, competitions, outreach programmes, and leadership activities, IChemE and AIChE student chapters enhance students' professional development, teamwork skills, and global exposure.
Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) -UTP Student Chapter
IChemE-UTP-SC is the club that represents the Chemical Engineering Department of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, the first student chapter under IChemE Malaysia. "Advancing Professionalism", as the motto of the IChemE-UTP-SC implies, it serves as the platform for the future young professionals to enhance their expertise and proficiency prior to entering the chemical industries. The goal is to guide the participants towards better understanding on the chemical industries and assist in finding the right career path through mentoring opportunities from corporate executives.
IChemE-SC Highlight
From 22–24 August 2025, the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) – UTP Student Chapter, together with the Chemical Engineering Department, organised the 4th International Process Control Competition (IPCC 2025). The 48-hour competition gathered student teams from local and international universities to solve real-world sustainability problems, reflecting IChemE's role in building technical skills, teamwork, and global exposure among future chemical engineers.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) -UTP Student Chapter
AIChE–UTP Student Chapter represents the Chemical Engineering Department of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS under the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Serving as a platform for future chemical engineers, the chapter focuses on developing students' technical, digital, and professional skills in line with current and emerging industry needs. Through activities such as technical workshops, industry sharing sessions, competitions, and mentoring by industry professionals, AIChE–UTP Student Chapter helps students gain better exposure to real engineering practice and supports them in identifying suitable career pathways within the chemical and process industries.
AIChE-SC in Action
The Chemical Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS successfully organised ChemDigit Bootcamp 3.0 with strong support from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) – UTP SC. The programme exposed students to AI applications and process simulation, helping them build digital skills relevant to modern chemical engineering practice. Through industry sharing and hands-on learning, AIChE plays an active role in preparing students for future-ready engineering careers.
