Welcome to Chemical Engineering Department

Chemical engineering is everywhere. 

In the clean water we drink, the food we eat, the fuel in our cars, the electricity that lights up our homes, the plastics and materials we use daily, and even the medicines that keep us healthy. It also powers the world’s most advanced industries, from creating high-performance materials for the semiconductor and electronics sector, to producing life-saving pharmaceuticals, renewable energy solutions, and sustainable technologies for a greener future. At UTP, our mission is to train and inspire the next generation of engineers who make these everyday miracles possible. Here, we don’t just teach equations and theories, we show how to turn ideas into real solutions

From designing eco-friendly plastics to developing clean energy and safer processes, our students and researchers work on challenges that matter for people, industry, and the p​lanet. ​​​At UTP, we believe chemical engineers are more than problem-solvers, they are solution creators, industry disruptors, and guardians of our planet’s future. Undergraduate Programmes


​Get a Head Start with the Integrated MSc Pathway! 

Final-year students in the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering programme have the opportunity to specialise through an integrated pathway leading to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. This option allows students to enrol in master’s-level coursework while completing their bachelor’s studies. Depending on availability each semester, these courses can be undertaken either through conventional on-campus classes or via flexible Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode.​

The integrated programme offers two specialisations:

Integrated Programme Leading to MSc Process Safety
  • Final year students with this specialisation have an option to take MSc in Process Safety course.
  • Those who pursue their study in MSc in Process Safety will be given vertical credit transfer for courses with a grade B or better.
  • Students may transfer credit and graduate MSc Process Safety in less than 1 year.
  • Students can select 3 out of 4 courses to fulfill their UG requirement.
