MPU4 (Community Engagement Project)
What is MPU4?
HDB1012 Community Engagement Project (CEP) is a compulsory course offered to all UTP students as part of the MPU (Mata Pelajaran Umum) National requirement. Categorized under MPU4, this project-based activity complements MPU1, MPU2, and MPU3 by focusing on the application of knowledge, skills, and morals. In line with UTP's mission to produce well-rounded graduates, students form groups of five to plan and execute approved community projects.
Objectives of MPU4
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Plan a comprehensive community engagement project.
- Implement the project effectively with a targeted community.
SUCCESS HIGHLIGHTS
Held on 13–14 December 2023 at Pusat Kegiatan Guru Tasek, Screen Dream aimed to cultivate media and advocacy experts. The program empowered 144 teachers and students from Kinta Utara in TV PSS content creation, digital storytelling, and advocacy communication.

This initiative (Sept 2024) enhanced digital marketing and financial literacy in Kampung Suak Padi, Bota. From introducing QR payment systems to local vendors to fruit tree planting for sustainable income, the project empowered female entrepreneurs and the local Orang Asli community.

Carried out in Pulau Madura, Indonesia, this project equipped salt farmers with IoT skills to monitor soil moisture and salinity in real-time. It also provided high school students with insights into STEM applications relevant to their local economy.
