ESSA 2.0: Empowering Primary-Level Orang Asli Schools Through Environmental Sustainability and STEM 2025 State-Level Outreach Initiative.
In 2025, University Teknologi Petronas (UTP) initiated a significant step toward linking digital and educational divides with ESSA 2.0 for 10 Orang Asli primary school students in each district across Perak, sparking wonders of STEM for environmental sustainability driven by strong collaboration with Perak State Orang Asli Headmasters Council, JAKOA Perak, and the Batang Padang District Education Office. The learning modules for the technical industry support were backed up by the experts from Gamma Scientific Research, Digital Analytics for Structural Integrity Technology, and STEM Lab Buddy.
ESSA 2.0 highlighted the interactive activities for students, linking indigenous knowledge from the Orang Asli with modern science, sparking curiosity with hands-on exercises. UTP contributed a Google Smart TV to SK Kampung Kinta to make a long-lasting impact after the workshop, supplemented with RM 11,362 internal funding, making sure students are equipped with the window to global information and technology.
Students showed significant improvement in curiosity and understanding core environmental and STEM concepts while the ties between UTP and the Orang Asli's community strengthened. Through these initiatives, UTP reaffirms its commitment to social responsibility by sharing the academic resources and investing in the roots of society to ensure a stable nation's future.
