Mimi Yanti Ahmad
Chief Human Resource Officer
Mimi Yanti Ahmad graduated in May 1997 from the University of Virginia, United States of America, with the degree BSc in Commerce (Finance). As a PETRONAS Scholar, she began her career as a Junior Executive in the Corporate Planning and Development Division at PETRONAS, where she was involved in the PETRONAS Group’s business planning and reporting activities.
In 1998, she transitioned to a role as a Business Planning & Development Executive with Gas District Cooling (H) Sdn Bhd, a PETRONAS subsidiary operating four district cooling and co-generation plants located in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Putrajaya, and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. In this role, she handled business planning and reporting including business development where she contributed to project evaluations for potential international ventures and collaborations projects in Johor Bahru, Indonesia, and Dubai.
Following a two-year career break, she made a pivotal career move in 2002 by transitioning into Human Resource Management (HR) within the same subsidiary. Since then, she has steadily advanced in the HR field, gaining broad experience across various PETRONAS subsidiaries and corporate units. Her HR experience spans training and development, talent management, compensation management, recruitment of PETRONAS scholars and senior management, people strategy and planning, organisational design and job management, HR account management, and several strategic HR projects.
One of her key career milestones was her involvement in the Downstream Business Transformation Project (OE R2 Project) from 2019 until 2023, where she was part of the HR project team. She worked collaboratively with Downstream and HR leaders, as well as PETRONAS in-house Employee Unions’ representatives, to co-create and design critical HR deliverables that supported the implementation of the transformation.
Over the years, her work in HR has allowed her to serve in multiple PETRONAS entities, including PETRONAS Gas Berhad, PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad, PETRONAS Holding Company, PETRONAS Downstream Business, and a short assignment at PETRONAS Lubricants International. Currently, she leads the Human Resource Management function as the Chief HR Officer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.
