Ir. Mohamed Firouz Asnan is a proven corporate leader with a distinguished career dedicated to growing Malaysia's national oil corporation, PETRONAS to fuel the economic growth of the country for a better future. Ir. Firouz brings together his extensive industry experience and six years of strategic stewardship on the Board of UTP to lead the university on its ambitious Full Potential Program (UFPP), outlining the new aspiration to elevate UTP into a truly world-class institution. His leadership is marked by a rare combination of strategic vision, business building, and hands-on execution, all underpinned by a deep commitment to upholding 'amanah' or trust maximising potential through research, innovation, and creating a meaningful societal impact.
Over his illustrious 35-year career at PETRONAS, Ir. Firouz has held senior leadership roles spanning the entire value chain - from upstream to downstream, while also playing the shaping role at the corporate centre. His vast international experience has provided valuable exposure to diverse cultures and global markets, shaping his ability to lead in dynamic and complex environments. Ir. Firouz is widely recognised for his ability to unlock potential across the energy sector using the whole-industry approach through application of technology, global partnerships, and focused execution. His talent for identifying 'whitespaces'—untapped opportunities—and fostering industry-academia collaborations aligns seamlessly with UTP's mission to collaborate with industry partners to maximise the societal benefits of research, education and knowledge exchange, while also driving economic growth and productivity.
As the President of UTP, Ir.
