Zaimizi Hamdani graduated with Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with summa cum laude from the University of Hartford, Connecticut, USA, in 1996. He also holds Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, obtained in 2013.
He joined PETRONAS in 1996 and has been involved in different roles mainly in technology development over the years. He started his career as a Planning Engineer, Planning Maintenance Section, PETRONAS Gas Bhd. From 1997, he was involved in various engine-related development projects, including attachment at Sauber PETRONAS Engineering (SPE) AG, Switzerland. In late 2005, he moved to PETRONAS Research Sdn Bhd (PRSB) where he was responsible for the development and commercialisation of engine through licensing arrangement in China.
He was later appointed as the General Manager for Group Technology Commercialisation Management (GTComM), Technology & Engineering Division (T&E) in 2012, responsible for the management, protection, and exploitation of Intellectual Property (IP). Concurrently during the period, he also served as the Chief Executive Officer for PETRONAS Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (PTVSB), the technology commercialization arm for PETRONAS until 2019.
He was later assigned to Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in June 2019 as the Director for Strategic Alliance Office (SAO) under Corporate Strategic Planning Division, and in January 2020 as the Director for Technology Transfer Office (TTO), Research Innovation & Commercialisation Division. He served as the Chief Strategy Officer at UTP from January 2021 until recently. He now assumes the role of Senior Vice President, Business & Chief Operating Officer effective from 1st May 2025.
