Imran Abdul Kadir

Vice President, Strategy, Sustainability & Transformation​

Imran Abdul Kadir is a seasoned energy industry leader with over 25 years of experience in strategy development, commercial operations, business planning, and country-head leadership roles.

He currently serves as Vice President of Strategy, Sustainability, and Transformation, where he leads long-term strategic direction, environmental stewardship, and organisational transformation for the institution. 

Prior to this appointment, Imran advanced major Gas Business Development projects for PETRONAS, focusing on commercial structuring and strategic partnerships of gas and LNG opportunities to drive value creation and growth from 2021-2024.

Between 2010 and 2021, he held key leadership roles within PETRONAS, including Country Head of Mauritania Operations, Head of Strategy & Planning at Group Strategic Communications, and Senior Manager of International Assets Management (Africa). He also held joint-venture leadership roles in Sudan and South Sudan, and served as Executive Assistant to the MD/CEO of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd.

Imran has also led and contributed to a range of enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, including the original Operating Performance Improvement (OPI) program, the Innovation Engine and Working Backwards methodology, and PETRONAS’ diversity and inclusion strategy. In parallel, he has championed community development programmes such as clean water well drilling for local villages, educational mentorship and scholarships for underprivileged youth, and environmental rehabilitation of decommissioned onshore well pads in Mauritania, Sudan, and Malaysia.

Imran holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Business Administration – International Management from Boston University (2001) and recently completed the Executive Education Certificate in Leading Organizations for High-Velocity Performance from MIT Sloan Executive Education (2024).
