This roadmap illustrates UTP’s sustainability journey over time, showing how early, independent initiatives gradually evolve into a structured and high‑impact transformation towards a Net Zero Carbon Campus: from 2016 to the early 2020s, sustainability efforts such as solar PV, water conservation, waste reduction and digitalisation were implemented independently, creating a foundational but limited impact; between 2024 and 2026, these efforts become strategically aligned through strengthened governance, integrated sustainability programmes, and participation in global rankings, marking a key shift from ad‑hoc actions to coordinated planning; from 2027 to 2030, UTP actively drives measurable outcomes through three focused workstreams—Net Zero (emissions measurement and reduction), Nature (green campus and biodiversity), and Just Transition (human rights, inclusivity, and ethical supply chains)—leading to clear milestones such as a 30% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030; beyond 2030 and towards 2050, sustainability becomes fully embedded in education, research, and operations, enabling long‑term societal impact and the achievement of a Net Zero Carbon Campus, as reflected by the plateauing of the curve at a high and sustained level of impact.
