Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Management (TTIPM) operates under Technology Commercialisation (TC) within the Innovation & Ventures (IV) Division of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. We support lecturers and researchers in bringing their innovations beyond the lab by helping them protect, develop, and commercialise their technologies.

TTIPM acts as a central point for technology exploration, licensing, and incubation, connecting research outputs with industry, partners, and commercial opportunities. Through this role, we work closely with inventors to unlock the full potential of their research and translate ideas into real-world impact.

HOW WE DO

In general, we are flexible in developing a practical go-to-market strategy for each invention. The approach is tailored based on the nature of the technology, market readiness, and the inventor’s goals.

At present, there are two (2) main pathways to monetise our intellectual property and technologies:

  1. Existing businesses

Commercialisation through our corporate partners or via direct exploitation by the university or inventors, where appropriate.

  2. Start-ups

Commercialisation through the Universiti Teknology PETRONAS Innovation Accelerator (UToPIA) Programme, which supports the creation and growth of start-ups based on university-developed technologies.

Based on these approaches, we offer a wide range of home-grown technologies that you can license, further develop, or commercialise with industry partners or through start-ups.
