Notably, UTP is the first private university in Malaysia to be rated a maximum 5-star overall rating in the QS StarsTM University Rating System.  For QS Asia University Rankings 2019, UTP is ranked 99th, making it Malaysia's only private university in the top 100 QS Asia.
In addition, for THE, the university is ranked 98th for the Asia University Rankings 2019.
Furthermore, UTP is the only private university in Malaysia to achieve six-star rating (the highest performance level) in MyRA for its research development and commercialisation programme.
Lastly, the university is also rated six-star (outstanding status) in the latest SETARA rankings.
"UTP is not pursuing ranking just for ranking's sake, but as a mechanism to measure the effectiveness of our rigorous and continuous effort in continuing and enhancing our teaching and learning, research, students' development and operational excellence," UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib said.
Moving forward, UTP will continue to emphasise on strategies leading towards academic leadership, research stewardship, students' experience and operational excellence in its quest to become globally prominent.
"We are constantly expanding and growing our network and collaborative efforts knowing that one of the keys for growth is networking with the right partners.  Our goal is to become an internationally recognised partner of choice for industry and respected scientific communities by 2025," Mohamed Ibrahim said.
In line with the industry's needs and to face Industrial Revolution 4.0, UTP is offering five new programmes namely Bachelor of Materials Engineering, Bachelor of Business Management (Business Analytics), MSc in Electronic Systems Engineering (Open and Distance Learning), Master of Science in Corrosion Engineering and Master of Science in Industrial Environmental Engineering.  In addition, UTP has introduced courses related to data analytics and artificial intelligence to further equip students for the future and the needs of industry.
