According to UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, UTP will continue to emphasise on strategies leading towards academic leadership, research stewardship, students’ experience and operational excellence in our quest to become globally prominent.

“We are constantly expanding and growing our network and collaborative efforts knowing that one of the keys for growth is networking with the right partners.  Our goal is to become an internationally recognised partner of choice for industry and respected scientific community by 2025,” he said.

UTP is offering three new programmes namely Bachelor of Materials Engineering, Bachelor of Business Management and MSc in Electronic Systems Engineering (Open and Distance Learning).  The university also plans to introduce two new programmes - Master of Science in Corrosion Engineering and Master of Science in Industrial Environmental Engineering.

Despite its young age of 22 years, UTP has continuously achieved excellence by becoming the top private Malaysian university that is proven through consistently being ranked in the world and the nation university rankings and ratings such as QS, Times Higher Education (THE), Malaysia Research Assessment Rating System (MyRA) and Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education (SETARA).

UTP is the first and only private university in Malaysia to be rated a maximum 5-star overall rating in the QS StarsTM University Rating System.  For QS Asia University Rankings 2019, it is ranked 99th.  For THE, the university is ranked 601-800 for the World Rankings 2019 and 98th for the Asia University Rankings 2019.

UTP is the only private university in Malaysia to achieve six-star rating (the highest performance level) in MyRA for its research development and commercialisation programme.  It is also rated six-star (outstanding status) in SETARA 2017.
