UTP and Hyundai Heavy Industries Sign MOU to Develop Game-Changing Technologies for Oil and Gas
(20 March 2018)
Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in the areas of academic research, knowledge and technology transfer to develop game-changing technologies for oil and gas.
To mark this occasion, a signing ceremony was held recently at UTP campus. The MoU was signed by UTP Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) Offshore & Engineering Division Senior Vice President, Kim Tae Jin.
The partnership with HHI was initiated by UTP Deputy Vice Chancellor Research & Innovation Professor Dr Shahir Liew and UTP Dean Faculty of Engineering Associate Professor Dr Fakhruldin Mohd Hashim. This resulted in a collaboration project entitled "Solid Formation Study During CO2 Blowdown" under CO2 Research Centre (CO2RES) led by Professor Dr Azmi Mohd Shariff last year.
The collaboration will further strengthen UTP's international affiliation and bring two excellent institutions together.
UTP established many strategic collaborations with industries and universities to support its aspiration to be internationally recognised as a partner of choice for industries and scientific communities.
