​UTP Bags Yet Another Great Achievement in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017

UTP bags yet another great achievement - a shared success for the continuous focused execution effort.

UTP have made significant improvements in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017.

QS has recognised UTP as amongst the world's elite institutions in four (4) of the forty-six (46) subjects and one (1) subject area (category) – Engineering & Technology.

The year 2017 marks especially a significant improvement for the rankings of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences & Information Systems subjects.  The Electrical Engineering has improved its rank to be in the Top 200 in 2017 as compared to Top 250 in 2016. 

At the same time, the Computer Sciences & Information Systems has managed to place itself to be Top 300 this year as compared to Top 350 last year.

There is also a tremendous achievement for the Subject Area – Engineering & Technology which made its improvement this year as Top 233 as compared to last year Top 288.

Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering have continuously maintained their rankings and significantly improved in the overall scores. The overall score for Chemical Engineering subject has improved from 61.2 in 2016 to 66.9 in 2017 and ranked Top 150.  Mechanical Engineering has improved from 59.7 in 2016 to 65.5 this year and ranked in Top 200 in both years. 

To date, there are 26,355 higher learning institutions worldwide. QS had evaluated 4,438 universities, qualified 3,098 and ranked 1117 institutions in total. Over 127 million citations attributions were analysed and verified the provision of over 18,900 programs.

The 2017 QS World University Rankings by Subject hence provides a comprehensive global overview of higher education performance at the discipline level.
