ESTCON2016 Successfully Concluded

The fourth World Engineering Science and Technology Congress (ESTCON) 2016 concluded on 17 August 2016 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Speaking at the event, YB Datuk Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) said congress such as ETSCON encourages critical thinking and interdisciplinary learning, promotes skills as well as knowledge and nurtures in us a passion and commitment to sustainable living.
He was representing MOSTI Minister, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Madius.
The congress is the only event where industry, academia, government and the public converge to take part in global business roundtables to discuss ideas, share knowledge, learn about the latest inventions and research as well as facilitate commercialisation of ideas to the market that benefit the industry and economy.
During the closing ceremony, Datuk Abu Bakar witnessed an exchange of documents ceremony between UTP and seven organisations.
The ceremony was the outcome of ESTCON2016 Innovation Pitching sessions as well as other university collaborations. The organisations were Uzma Engineering Sdn Bhd, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, ProcessVU Services Sdn Bhd, HezMedia Interactive Sdn Bhd, NanoMalaysia and Hans Design Sdn Bhd ( Attachment 1).
First introduced in 2014, the innovation pitching sessions have become an opportunity to bring new innovations to the worldwide platform, allowing innovators and inventors to pitch new technologies and directly connect them to potential investors and business partners.
Datuk Abu Bakar also presented the best paper awards for ESTCON2016 (Attachment 2 ).
ESTCON 2016, which gathered 1,200 delegates from 40 countries, was organised by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) with the support from the Ministry of Higher Education, (MoHE), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Agensi Inovasi Malaysia (AIM) and Yayasan Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (Yayasan UTP).
This is one of the world’s largest congresses Malaysia has ever hosted which comprises nine simultaneously-held international conferences namely International Conference on Integrated Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences (ICIPEG2016), International Conference on Civil, Offshore & Environmental Engineering (ICCOEE2016), International Conference on Production, Energy and Reliability (ICPER2016), International Conference on Process Engineering and Advanced Materials (ICPEAM2016), International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS2016), International Conference on Computer & Information Sciences (ICCOINS2016), International Conference on Fundamental and Applied Sciences (ICFAS2016), International Conference on Leadership and Management (ICLM2016) and International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (ICHSS2016).
