Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS recently welcomed nine students and three lecturers from the Institute of National Colleges of Technology (KOSEN), Japan for the UTP-KOSEN Education and Cultural Exchange Programme.
This programme is a result of the MOU signed between UTP and KOSEN last February. It is part of UTP’s effort in having more collaborations with renowned international universities, towards becoming an internationally recognised higher learning institution.
Participants of the programme were at UTP for a week, beginning from 10 until 16 March 2014. They were involved in various programmes such as educational trips, cultural and recreational activities, within and outside the university compound.
During the participants stay at UTP, they participated in engineering class observations, attended English classes as well as visited the laboratories. In addition, the participants also joined UTP’s Engineering Team Project (ETP), under the supervision of Dr Hilmi Hussin of Mechanical Engineering.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit three companies in Perak, namely Camfil Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Gas Cooling District, UTP and Spritzer Group Malaysia. The visits provided beneficial experience to the participants, as they were briefed on the Malaysia’s technological advancement in various industries.
Before heading back to Japan, the participants were brought to Bandar Universiti’s night market to taste some of the local delicacies and were also invited to perform and participate in UTP’s International Cultural Night (ICN).
