UTP BRINGS RELIEF TO FLOOD VICTIMS (7 DECEMBER 2013)
UTP community including UTP Alumni showed their caring sides when they donated cash of nearly RM7,000 to the flood victims in the East Coast of Malaysia. The donated funds were then used to purchase essential items for the flood victims such as food, milk, mats, baby mattresses, toiletries and hand sanitisers.
Apart from this, there were also in-kind donations from UTP staff in the form of baby milk, baby diapers, toiletries, medical supplies, towels, new and used clothes, blankets and shoes/sandals. For the used items, they were sorted and only those that were in good condition were selected. Some of UTP’s staff also bought these used clothes and the proceeds were then used to purchase food items.
The donated goods for the flood victims were delivered and unloaded at USJ 14, Selangor on 7 December 2013. They were then transported on the same day by lorries to the flood victims at four relief centres in Kuantan, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Tiga, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Isap Murni, Kampung Bugis Beserah and Kampung Permatang Badak.
UTP’s noble cause was also featured in TV Al-Hijrah and TV9.
