​Festival of Colours of the World (FESCO) 2013 (13 April 2013)

Co-Curriculum Unit of Stud​ent Support Services Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) today organised the sixth edition of the Festival of Colours of the World (FESCO) 2013 at the  Chancellor Hall, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

The event was officiated by Puan Juniwati Rahmat Hussin, Chairman of Institute Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd. Board of Directors/PETRONAS Vice President and Venture Director Pengerang Integrated Complex.

The main objective of the festival was to provide an opportunity for students of Higher Learning Institutions (local and international) to show their talent in performing arts. The event will also help to inculcate a deeper public appreciation in Malaysian and foreign arts and culture.

FESCO 2013 is an annual event organized since 2008. This year saw the participation from 14 local universities and 1 international university, featuring more than 250 dancers of different genres and culture:

1.            Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) - Gemalai Sari
2.            Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah (POLISAS) - Samudra Tari
3.            UiTM Puncak Perdana - Teka Tari
4.            Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Kampus Putrajaya - Gema Tari 
5.            Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Kampus Kejuruteraan - Adikarma
6.            Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) - Kumpulan Kesenian Persada Tari
7.            Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya Campus - Sakti
8.            Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) - Rang Budayo
9.            UiTM Shah Alam - Prisma Seni
10.          Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia - Gasita
11.          Sekolah Seni Johor Bharu (SSJB) - Sekolah Seni Johor Bharu
12.          Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) - Selendang Maya
13.          Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Kampus Induk - Adikarma
14.          TAJ International College (TIC) - Etika Sari
15.          UNITAR International University  - Daya Budaya Tari
16.          Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia - Pradangga Sastra Inggris  (PESASTI)
17.          Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia - Aadymaatra Artisukma
18.          Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia - Fansuri
19.          Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) - Indra Sutra

The night also featured special performances from UTP very own Performing Arts Group (UPAG) and alumni. This year’s event was conducted in a competition manner and the award winners for each category are as follows:

YB Drs Mohd Nizar Hj Zakaria, former Parit Parliament Member, representing YB Dato' Zainol Fadzi Haji bin Paharudin, Perak Exco of Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Committee, as well as UTP staff and students were among the estimated 2000 audiences who attended the festival.
