Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) Indian Orchestra Group has proven that engineering students can also shine in arts and cultural competition.  They emerged first runner up for the dance competition, second runner up and won consolation prizes for the singing competition in the Chakravedaz Cultural Night. This art and cultural, as well as charity night event was organised on 22 June 2013 by the Indian Cultural Bureau of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) Kampus Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (KSHAS).

The event was held with the following objectives:
  • ​A charity event to raise funds and support SJK (T) Ladang Kelpin, Rompin Negeri Sembilan
  • To celebrate Indian arts and culture, where dancing and singing played a significant role
  • To create a new dimension of dancing and singing by combining classical and contemporary styles
  • To polish young talents and give them exposure to performing arts

Seven universities participated in this competition namely UNITEN KSHAS, UTP, Multimedia University (MMU), Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Asian Metropolitan Universiti (AMU), Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), where each university sent 8 representatives - 6 for dancing and 2 for singing.

This event was graced by the attendance by some of Malaysia’s Indian popular entertainment personalities such as Mista G (singing), Dr. Burn (rapper) and Ravi Shankar (famous dancer from Astana Arts). They officiated the event, played their role as judges and performed several stage performances.

Singing Category

Champion  : AMU (Prize: RM250.00, certificate and trophy)
1st Runner Up : UNITEN (Prize: RM 200.00, certificate and trophy)
2nd Runner Up : UTP (Prize: RM150.00, certificate and trophy)
Consolation : MMU, UTP, UPSI (Hamper and certificates)

Dancing Category

Champion UNITEN (Prize: RM2000.00, certificate & trophy)
1st Runner Up  : UTP (Prize: RM 1500.00, certificate & trophy)
2nd Runner Up MMU (Prize: RM1000.00, certificate & trophy)
Consolation : AMU, UNITEN (Group 2), UPSI (Hamper and certificates)​​​
