UTP Received Appreciation Award At The National Standards & Accreditation Award Ceremony

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS has received an Appreciation Award from the Department of Standards Malaysia (STANDARDS MALAYSIA) at the 2012 National Standards & Accreditation Award Ceremony, as recognition towards the university’s contributions to the standardisation and accreditation initiatives in Malaysia.
The annual event was held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on 22 November 2012 and officiated by YBhg. Datuk Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). Its aim is to encourage both public and private sectors to conform to standards and accreditation.
The award was presented to UTP representative, En. Mohd Hatta Amran, Manager of Lab Facilities and Services Unit (LFSU), by YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ahmad Tajudin Ali, Chairman of Malaysian Standards and Accreditation Council (MSAC).
UTP becomes the first private university in Malaysia awarded by STANDARDS MALAYSIA when its Universal Testing Machine (UTM) Laboratory was accredited under Laboratory Accreditation Scheme of Malaysia (SAMM) based on MS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 – ‘General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories’.
Managed by LFSU, the UTM Laboratory has successfully undergone the accreditation process and demonstrated technical competence for mechanical testing and the operation of a laboratory management system since 1 February 2012.
Also present at the event were YBhg. Professor Datin Paduka Dr Khatijah, Mohd Yusoff, MOSTI Deputy Secretary General (Science) and Pn. Fadilah Baharin, STANDARDS MALAYSIA Director-General.
