​UTP Obtained 4th Place In ROBOGAMEZ Competition (6 Sep 2008)

On Saturday, 6th of September 2008, UTP Robocon Team has sent 4 teams to participate in ROBOGAMEZ 2008 ‘Quest of the Unsolved Maze’ that was organised by UNITEN. The competition was held at Dewan Sarjana, UNITEN. Over 63 teams from various universities and polytechniques have participated in this event. Among the universities that participated were MMU Melaka, MMU Cyberjaya, UTM, UNITEN, UPM, Monash University, UM, KDU, UCSI, UTM KL, and others.

This competition requires the robot to complete the given maze in a limited time. The winner is determined when the particular maze robot first complete the maze route or by point(s) scored during the match. There will be 4 teams in every match.

The 4 UTP teams were Duyung, Koro-koro, Julia and Invictus that comprised of 3 members per team. All UTP Teams managed to go to the second round of the competition by wining all of their matches in round robin. Two of the teams, Duyung and Koro-Koro, managed to qualify to the quarter final.

Duyung Team has solved 2 out of 4 mazes in the quarter final to be qualified in the semi final. Duyung Team managed to get second place in the semi final and place itself in the final 4. In the final 4, Duyung Team was contending with UPM team, Lost Team from UNITEN, and CRA Team from MMU (Melaka). In the end, we managed to get the 4th place out of 63 teams in the final match.

Despite this is the first time we joint such tournament, Julia team and Invictus team managed to get to the top 30 while Koro-koro Team successfully places itself in the best 16 teams. On top of all, Duyung Team managed to be in the final thus being at the 4th place out of all other competitors in ROBOGAMEZ 2008 ‘Quest of the Unsolved Maze’..
