​Aidilfitri @ Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (17 Oct 2008)

In the spirit of Aidilfitri, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS held a Hari Raya gathering on 17 October 2008 at the Plaza of the Chancellor Complex.  Held annually to celebrate and to strengthen ties in the true spirit of the festivals, over 1,500 guests including state government officers, staff of PETRONAS OPUs in Perak, UTP staff and their family members attended this joyous occasion.

On hand to personally greet the guests were UTP Rector Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin B Hj Kasim, accompanied by his wife, Datin Rosemi bt Hamdan and Dr Mohd Noh Karsiti, Chairman of Kelab Sosial dan Kebajikan Kakitangan Universiti (KSKKU).

All guests were dressed up in their colourful traditional attire.  They were served with an array of local delicacies such as lemang, rendang, soto ayam, nasi beriyani,  fried kuetiaw , satay and other dishes in hawker stalls style. These stalls were hosted by all the Management Committee Members. Special performances by UTP staff and Zamani Sailan from PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Unit in UTP added to the festive atmosphere.  

To further add to the jovial mood of the occasion, the committee had arranged several activities including lucky draws and best dressed competition.  Judges had a tough time selecting winners for the best dressed, however it was Mohd Zairee Shah from Corporate Services Department and Maniza Mansor from IT Department who captured the judges' votes to win first prizes for the male and female categories respectively.

Later, the children of staff were presented with duit raya.
