On the 11th June 2008, a UTP student, Muhammad Tarmidzi bin Samsudin who was doing his Internship at BASF SE, Germany, became the CHAMPION in a singing competition which was held in conjunction with the Parkfest Ludwigshafen (Ludwigshafen Festival). He was the only foreigner from a pool of 15 contestants in the competition which was organized by Ludwigshafener Kongress –und Marketing –Gesellschaft mbH (LUKOM). The songs chosen for the competition were “My Way” by Frank Sinatra and “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban. The prize for the champion was a hot air balloon ride and a chance for professional recording at a studio.
The competition was also highlighted and given some coverage by the local newspapers.
