TECHNOLOGY READINESS LEVEL: 5
BRIEF TECHNOLOGY
A low-cost technology for naphtha reforming to produce high RON motor gasoline and aromatics by using proprietary catalysts based on non-Platinum group metals.
PROBLEM STATEMENT & CURRENT ISSUES
The refining industry depends on CCR Platformers to produce >102 RON reformates as blending components for producing high RON gasolines.
- CCR Platforming incurs high CAPEX and high OPEX
- High carbon footprint due to high energy input
Legacy SR Platformers produces <98 RON reformates which make them increasingly uneconomical to operate due to advancement in engine designs which leads to growing demand for high RON gasoline.
USEFULNESS & APPLICATION
Key Features: Process
Key Features: Catalyst
IMPACT OF THE PRODUCT
- UTP-Reforming produces >102 RON reformates
- UTP-Reforming catalyst does not incorporate platinum, thus enabling the innovation of a novel process scheme that requires 50% lower CAPEX and 30% lower OPEX than CCR Platforming.
- Lower energy usage (Reduce Carbon Footprint)
