District Cooling Plant (DCP) Optimization

Energy Cost Optimization Journey at UTP

UTP optimized the operation of its chillers, Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tank, and associated auxiliaries at the District Cooling Plant in response to the revised electricity tariff. The strategy involved revising the operating philosophy and control settings of the Chiller and TES System to minimise the impact of Maximum Demand (MD) charges, resulting in RM 1.0 million annual savings.

3.1 Covered walkway and pedestrian around campus  irrigation system
As part of our strategy to embrace green mobility and promote a sustainable lifestyle, UTP is actively enhancing the quality and accessibility of campus walkways to encourage walking on campus. The following measures have been implemented:
i. Increased the coverage of walkways and pedestrian paths from Village 3 to Village 2C, totalling 245 meters. This project was completed in 2021.
ii. Constructed a covered walkway and pedestrian path from the parking area to Block 11 and 12, spanning a total of 270 meters. This project was also completed in 2021.
iii. Expanded the coverage of walkways and pedestrian paths around the campus, totalling 1.7 kilometers. This project was successfully completed in 2022.

Furthermore, in 2022, UTP installed two electric vehicle (EV) chargers on campus, further contributing to the reduction of transportation emissions.
