The Chemical Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, warmly welcomed its new intake of first-year students through the ChemRookies 2025 programme, an introductory platform designed to help students transition confidently into university life and the Chemical Engineering discipline.
The programme featured a series of engaging ice-breaking activities, team-based challenges, and interactive sharing sessions aimed at fostering connection, collaboration, and a sense of belonging among the new students. Senior students, who served as facilitators, together with academic staff, shared valuable insights on student life, effective study strategies, and the diverse academic and co-curricular opportunities available within the programme.
ChemRookies 2025 marked the beginning of the students’ journey as future chemical engineers—where learning, innovation, teamwork, and friendships begin to take shape. The programme reflected the Department’s commitment to holistic student development, peer mentorship, and a supportive learning environment.
The Department extends its sincere appreciation to all lecturers who participated in the programme and took the time to introduce themselves and share their experiences with the first-year students. Their engagement played an important role in fostering early connection and academic motivation among the new cohort.
