National Reverse Engineering Competition (NREC) 2025 led by the IChemE – Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS Student Chapter and co-organised by the Chemical Engineering Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, together with MyCarbon Society, with support from the Centre of Advanced Process Safety (CAPS) was succesfully concluded on 9 October 2025. The final pitching was conducted at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, in conjunction with Loss Prevention Asia 2025. The Chemical Engineering Department is proud to announce that UTP students demonstrated outstanding performance, securing both top positions in the competition.
The Champion title was awarded to LifeLine, represented by Misha Paramalingam, a third-year student (Semester 1) from the Chemical Engineering Department.
The First Runner-up position was secured by the team Con2trol, represented by Nurishsyafiah Ezany binti Zamzuri, Ammar Dzulkarnain bin Muhammad Najib, and Marsya binti Mudri, all of whom are second-year students (Semester 2) from the Chemical Engineering Department.
Their achievements reflect strong analytical thinking, creativity, and the ability to translate engineering principles into practical, safety-focused solution, which are the key attributes of future-ready chemical engineers. The Department extends its sincere appreciation to Dr Azizul Buang for facilitating the collaboration with LPA 2025, and to Dr M. Devendran Manogaran, Advisor to IChemE–UTP Student Chapter, for his invaluable guidance and continuous support to the student committee throughout the competition.
Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and exemplary performance. This success further highlights UTP’s commitment to industry-relevant learning, student leadership, and excellence in process safety education.
