UTP REFORMING

TECHNOLOGY READINESS LEVEL: 5

BRIEF TECHNOLOGY
A low-cost technology for naphtha reforming to produce high RON motor gasoline and aromatics by using proprietary catalysts based on non-Platinum group metals.

PROBLEM STATEMENT & CURRENT ISSUES
The refining industry depends on CCR Platformers to produce >102 RON reformates as blending components for producing high RON gasolines.

  1. CCR Platforming incurs high CAPEX and high OPEX
  2. High carbon footprint due to high energy input

Legacy SR Platformers produces <98 RON reformates which make them increasingly uneconomical to operate due to advancement in engine designs which leads to growing demand for high RON gasoline.

IMPACT OF THE PRODUCT
  • UTP-Reforming produces >102 RON reformates
  • UTP-Reforming catalyst does not incorporate platinum, thus enabling the innovation of a novel process scheme that requires 50% lower CAPEX and 30% lower OPEX than CCR Platforming.
  • Lower energy usage (Reduce Carbon Footprint)
