UTP Snatched Bronze Medal in World Taekwondo Competition (21-24 August 2014)

UTP Taekwondo Team represented by Muhammad Faisal Redzwan Md. Roslee, Nik Nur Nailini Nik Ab. Rashir, Nurfarah Hanim Abdullah and Aiman Naafiz Shahrul did the university proud when they snatched a bronze medal in the Authorized Poomsae Category at the World Taekwondo Hanmadang 2014.  This was certainly an outstanding feat as this was their debut performance in the international arena.

The Taekwondo Team was the first sports team selected to represent UTP internationally as they had shown outstanding achievements in the previous years and this year’s Sukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (SUKIPT).

The World Taekwondo Hanmadang is a global event that highlights the essentials of martial arts such as breaking, self-defence and Poom Sae. Since 1992, it has been organised annually by The World Taekwondo Headquarters (KUKKIWON) in South Korea.

This year, the competition was held in South Korea, the birthplace of Taekwondo. Aptly themed, “Unifying the world through Taekwondo”, it brought together 900 taekwondo practitioners from 53 countries to compete and revitalize this popular form of martial art.
