The Fundamental and Applied Sciences Department of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology (FSIT) Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) once again collaborated with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) to organise the 2014 MRSM Science Camp in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

With the theme “Scientists for Tomorrow”, the camp aims to nurture and flourish students’ interests in science, instill research culture and encourage them to become more creative and innovative in exploring new things via research.

The event was also organized to assist the government in producing a pool of young and talented scientists.  This year, 150 students from MRSM around the country were given the opportunities to take part in various activities including hands-on lab research, literature search and report writing assisted by UTP representatives.

During the closing ceremony, Prof Dr Abdul Rashid Abd Aziz, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research & Innovation UTP, stated that this program was a good platform in nurturing and developing students thinking and scientific skills in addition to expanding their creativity and innovativeness. This is in accordance with the governments’ vision in producing youths who are competitive, innovative and dynamic.
