As a responsible corporate citizen that strives to give back and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, UTP reached out to 60 less underprivileged children in Ipoh, Perak through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Menggapai Impian.
Now in its seventh year, Menggapai Impian is the university’s signature annual CSR programme with the aim of providing the underprivileged children (primary and secondary students) a head start in their education and better learning experience.
The event also benefits UTP’s staff as one of the ways to uphold the spirit of sharing and giving to those in need.
With this CSR, UTP staff volunteer to sponsor a minimum of RM150 for one child. Each child will be given basic school necessities in the form of school uniforms, bags, shoes and stationery for the new school term.
For this programme, children are selected from different races of different orphanages from various districts in Perak. This year, 60 children were selected from three orphanages namely Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kasih Nurul Iman Negeri Perak, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Harapan Baru, Ipoh and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Anugerah Istimewa, Ipoh.
Apart from receiving school supplies, each child also received cash donation of RM100 (in the form of Bank Rakyat Saving Accounts Book) from actress, Cik Siti Saleha Mohd Baharum. UTP Alumni Association also contributed RM1,000 to each orphanage.
