About The Department of Computing

Since its establishment in 1997, the Department of Computing has grown with a diverse background of academic and support staff with rich industrial experiences as well as in academia. We are located at Block 01 and 02 of the Academic Building with fully equipped ICT labs.

We deliver industry-relevant undergraduate programmes and multi-disciplinary postgraduate programmes designed to meet the needs of diverse local and international students as well as multinational employers. We are proud that our three undergraduate programmes have earned accreditation under the Seoul Accord, a prestigious multilateral agreement that recognises the quality of computing and IT-related degree programmes worldwide. With signatories from Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States, this accreditation affirms that our graduates are globally benchmarked and internationally recognised.​

Undergraduate Programmes

Postgraduate Programmes

Prospective students will find a friendly community of more than 100 postgraduate students by research at MSc and PhD level, and more than 800 students at the undergraduate level. This provides an excellent mix of domestic and international students from Pakistan, Indonesia, Sudan, Cambodia, Nigeria, Libya, Chad, and Iraq.

The Department is a vibrant and diverse academic unit with research interests ranging from fundamental to applied computing, with particular emphasis on the oil and gas industries. Its expertise spans business, engineering, and computing, and extends to advanced areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and IT solutions. In alignment with the University's vision and strategic priorities, the Department is committed to advancing knowledge and innovation that address global grand challenges, particularly in relation to regenerative futures​, energy security, and sustainable living. 

The Department also works closely with other departments within the University, providing an enabling environment for cross-disciplinary research supported by internal funding, industry partnerships, and government agencies. This diversity enriches the Department's perspective and strengthens the relevance of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes it offers. The curriculum is accredited by the Malaysian Quality Assurance (MQA), and our graduates have been very successful in their pursuit of careers and knowledge. ​​
