More than 200 riders from all around peninsular Malaysia participated in the UTP ConvoRide 2018 together with UTP staff and students and the local community.
This annual cycling competition was organised by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in conjunction with the university's 18th convocation ceremony. It was flagged off by UTP 18th Convocation Chairman, Associate Professor Dr Ku Zilati Ku Shaari.
The ride covered a distance of 110km. Along this route, the riders cycled through the roads of Bota, Beruas, Manong, Parit and Seri Iskandar.
PETRONAS Senior Vice President, Project Delivery & Technology, En Mazuin Ismail and CEO of Uzma Berhad, Dato' Kamarul Redzuan Muhamed once again joined as participants.
The ConvoRide, returns for its seventh year, aimed to promote healthy lifestyle among participants and promote the scenic views of Perak to the riders. But most important of all, cyclists got to do their part for charity, as profits from the competition were channeled to Yayasan UTP or UTP Foundation (YUTP).
YUTP plays a key role in seeking donations and forging new partnerships with individuals and organisations. Contributions to the Foundation will provide much needed funds for the granting of scholarship to deserving students, supporting research and innovation, the development of activities related to arts, sports and culture within the university context and supporting the administration of the university. All contributions to YUTP will be tax deductible under Section 44(6) of Income Tax Act, 1967.
