  • We produce diverse, well characterised, high-quality, reliable and stable nanomaterials, nanostructures and nanodevices having specific properties and attributes  which are  reproducible and manufacturable through clearly defined, safe and cost-effective processes and assembly methods. 
  • Our objective is to establish comprehensive libraries of nanomaterials, nanostructures and nanodevices which are ready to be adopted and incorporated as building blocks for industries and research institution. 
  • Our aim is for industry and society to benefit from the innovative and revolutionary applications, solutions and products established and invented using nanotechnology.   
Our Values
Nanotechnology MOR is also committed to addressing the potential environmental, health, and safety impacts and various societal, legal, or ethical implications of nanotechnology to avoid or minimise any undesirable or unintended effects of nanotechnology.

 
The Nanotechnology MOR synergizes and facilitates nanotechnology related research, development and commercialisation efforts and activities in UTP by acting as a central coordination office with mandates:

Overview & Aspiration
Nanomaterials present a tremendous opportunity to generate a host of new products that could energise the economy, solve major societal problems, revitalise existing industries and create entirely new businesses. The opportunity arises as the result of the unique properties (e.g., physical, magnetic, optical, chemical, mechanical, electronic, biological) of materials when they are at nanoscale (1 to 100 nm) size. To realise fully the broad economic benefits of nanomaterials, a novel solution-oriented approach to materials and nanomaterials development - by design, needs to be adopted.

 
This new approach requires a robust understanding of the fundamental scientific principles operating at nanoscale, including interdependent structure-property relationships. Such an understanding will enable cost-effective design, synthesis, and scale-up of materials that deliver selected properties, allowing for the focus on the requirements for specific applications as the primary drivers of the design process.

 
The capability will accelerate nanomaterial development resulting in a large number of diverse products to rapidly enter markets to solve long-standing problems and stimulate economic growth for decades to come. Thus, the vision of the nanotechnology research group at UTP is to establish a library of nanomaterials and synthesis techniques for accelerated production of innovative and beneficial commercialised products in the following areas:
