MSC Malaysia Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA 2016)

KUALA LUMPUR - The National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) has announced that two teams from Computer and Information Sciences Department (CISD) of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS to be the finalist of MSC Malaysia Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA) this year. Initiated by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and in its 17th year, APICTA is the nation's prestigious showcase of ICT excellence and innovation aimed at recognising local creativity as well as ground-breaking achievements and contributions in the industry. The awards are an important platform for spurring greater competitive spirit among local companies and researchers to move on par with international counterparts.
All participated teams has gone through few rounds of judging and pitching before being selected as the finalist. CISD's finalist that managed to go through the final round are mentioned below:

The MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC Malaysia APICTA), under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, provides a platform to stimulate creativity, innovation and excellence in ICT in Malaysia, benchmarks Malaysian ICT products and solutions, and recognises outstanding achievements in ICT, of students, researchers, technopreneurs, SMEs and organisations with operations in Malaysia. APICTA offers over 20 award categories aiming at better capturing the dynamic landscape and innovative spirit of the ICT industry. This include Best of Application and Infrastucture Tools, Best of Communication Applications and Best of e-Health and Well-being.
On the 20th of October 2016 at the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Stutter Manager project, led by Dr Noreen Izza was announced to be the Merit Award Winner under the Best of e-Learning category. This project will represent Malaysia at the International Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, which is hosted in Taipei, Taiwan from 2nd till 6th December. This project will also undergo development programmes conducted by PIKOM.
This annual Awards programme has provided an opportunity and an ideal environment for us as researchers to gain local, regional and international exposure through networking, expansion to business networks, exposure to venture capitalists and investors and platform to benchmark products and services, and much more. It is hoped that more research projects will accept the challenge and embrace the opportunity that APICTA provides for the development of ICT innovation and assisting in narrowing the digital divide.
