​Anugerah Inovasi Menteri Besar 2016

IPOH – The project that is known as the Stutter Manager led by Dr Noreen Izza Arshad from Computer and Information Sciences Department has received the award 'Anugerah Potensi Inovasi'  during the launching of Perak Innovation Day and award ceremony for Konvensyen Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif (KIK). With the award, Dr Noreen and the team took home RM10,000, a trophy and a certificate which was presented by the Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir at the Banquet Hall, Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan. Also present were State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan and State Financial Officer Datuk Mohd Ghazali Jalal.

The participation and nomination for this award were held in few rounds of judging and pitching. At the final round, Dr Noreen and her team have presented their project to a panel of judges at the Perak State Building, chaired by State Secretary Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan. Anugerah Potensi Inovasi is the most prestigious award this year, along with other categories that include Innovation Award in the category of Information and Communication Technology (AIICT) and the Innovation Award for Local Authorities (AIPBT).


UTP has competed in the innovation category together with other 32 entries from agencies and civil organisations in the state of Perak in conjunction with the Innovation Day. The other agencies include Pejabat Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Negeri Perak and Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Perak. Datuk Zambry challenges all agencies and institutions in Perak to move forward with new creative and innovative ideas for the betterment. He mentioned that ideas need to grow for the benefit of all.


During the ceremony, CISD was invited to showcase our research and innovation projects. A booth was set-up at the banquet hall and projects were showcased to public and interested parties. This is definitely an opportunity for us to promote our current on-going research and innovations that could assist Perak society and might be of interest to other agencies.
