Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), one of the most prominent private universities in Malaysia, has won the Brand Laureate Award 2015-2016, for the Best Brands in Tertiary Education – Engineering, Science and Technology.
The award was given away recently by Tan Sri Rainer Althoff, the Chairman of Asia Pacific Brands Foundation at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur to UTP Vice Chancellor, Datuk Ir (Dr) Abdul Rahim Hashim.
The selection of the Brand Laureate award winners are based on the recommendations made by a panel of assessors who have researched the visibility and positive perceptions on UTP brand.
UTP has undertaken various efforts to brand and position itself as the leading engineering, science and technology university in the world, in line with its aspiration to become globally prominent. UTP Vice Chancellor, Datuk Ir (Dr) Abdul Rahim Hashim said by winning this award, it is evident that the UTP brand is clearly visible and perceived positively by our internal and external stakeholders. This can also be a testimony that drives UTP to work harder to enhance its brand.
The main ingredients of UTP's strong brand is its focus in delivering superior quality of education and research as well as producing well-rounded graduates. It is also the result of UTP's internal stakeholders' (staff and students) and external stakeholders' (industry, government, sponsors, partners, and the public) trust on its brand.
"To ensure that our brand remains as the best brand, it is vital for our internal stakeholders to believe in our brand and engage positively and actively with the external stakeholders. As we are part of the UTP brand, we shall continue with our journey of excellence and not settle for anything short of fully realising our quest towards global prominence," Datuk Abdul Rahim said.
