Job Vacancy as Research Officer for Techno Fund Project
The requirements are as follows:-
(a) B Eng(Hons) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or B.Sc(Hons) in Computer Science with 2nd Class Upper or CGPA > 3.00. Applicant with Masters degree can also apply
(b) Able to programme in MATLAB and C
(c) Good command of English Language (prove required). Please write a statement of purpose (not more than 1000 words)
Technofund Project TF 0308 C041 - Computerised System for Monitoring and Scoring of Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI)
The R&D project is to develop a commercial-ready prototype for the computerised PASI monitoring and scoring system and conduct clinical trials for accuracy and sensitivity needed for medical practice. The PASI prototype development will utilised earlier research findings and image analysis algorithms reported and developed by UTP researchers in collaboration with the Dermatology Department, Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
The Research Officer will be involved in a team working on several aspects namely, project management, development of medical imaging software, clinical trials and patent process

Qualification
(a) Research Officer 1
- Degree in Chemical Engineering
- CGPA > 3.00
- Knowledgeable in Catalytic Reactor Design & Operation
(b) Research Officer 2
- Degree in Chemistry
- CGPA > 3.00
- Knowledgeable in Catalytst Synthesis
- Knowledgeable in Microscopy and Spectroscopic Analysis and Temperature-Programmed Techniques

PhD STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
Number of students required: 2
Project commencement date: 15 September 2008
Academic background: Possess BSc and MSc degrees in materials science/engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or other related fields from recognised universities. CGPA >3.25.
Financial assistance: RM2500 per month in allowance + tuituion fees for 36-month study period
Other requirement: Malaysian citizen.
-Job opportunity within PETRONAS upon successful completion of the PhD degree.
Background of the project: The project is on intumescent coating for fire protection purposes focusing on fiber reinforcement, adhesive properties, morphology and environmental studies.
