Syntech Organization of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has developed a website for an orphanage, named Pusat Jagaan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Nurul Iman (Nurul Iman), Kg Manjoi, Ipoh, Perak.

            This project is a community service, provided by Syntech Organization with the support from Computer Information Sciences (CIS) Department and Dr. Ahmad Kamil Mahmood, Head of CIS Department as the project advisor. One of the objectives of this project is to generate social interaction between students and community outside the campus, besides as a university contribution of beneficial programmes to the society.

Later, on 29th of September, a team of 16 committee members have paid their visit to the orphanage. The objective of this visit is to gather information to be included in the website. The visit named, “Sepagi di Nurul Iman” with the theme “Tautan Ukhwah Insani” started at 9 am with the speech from the Manager of Nurul Iman, Mr. Khairul Anuar bin Mohmad Razi. The programme then continued with a motivation session, conducted by the committee. It was held in order to develop confidence and build motivation to the orphans. “Sepagi di Nurul Iman” ended at 12 noon, by a speech from the Project Manager, M. Nazmi Izuddin bin Mohamad Nasir.

            The website hosting which can be accessed at http://nuruliman.utp.net.my has been sponsored by VIMC and was officiated on 26th of October, during Raya Dinner held by Syntech Organisation in conjunction with Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) Department of UTP. All the orphans from the orphanage were invited to the event. The enjoyment of the night began with a ‘nasyid’ performance by Nurul Iman followed by a lucky draw. All prizes were given away by the honorable guest, Dr. Mohd Fadzil bin Hassan, a representative of CIS Department. The orphans were also presented with ‘duit raya’ sponsored by Syntech Organization.

Currently there are 35 orphans staying at Nurul Iman. They are between four to seventeen years old, and two of them are from Philippines. Nurul Iman is facilitated with two blocks of hostel, a dining hall, a praying room, an office, and also Internet services.
