UTP SPORTS & CO-CURRICULUM APPRECIATION NIGHT 2008

18 MARCH 2008

 

UTP Sports & Co-Curriculum Appreciation Night 2008, organized by the Co-Curriculum Unit, was held on the 18th March 2008. This event was to give recognition and appreciation to all students and staff who had represented the University in various events / tournaments and have contributed in the development of sports and co-curricular activities in UTP.

The event which took place at the Undercroft, Chancellor Complex was attended by Y.Bhg. Datuk Dr. Zainal Abidin Hj. Kasim, Rector of UTP, Tuan Hj. Mohamed Noor Rosli b. Baharom, Director of Student Services,  UTP Management Committee, respective department senior managers/managers/heads, staff and students of UTP.

During the night, various appreciation and awards were presented by Bhg. Datuk Dr. Zainal Abidin Hj. Kasim, Rector of UTP, accompanied by Tuan Hj. Mohamed Noor Rosli b. Bararom, to deserving individuals / teams / groups. Among the prestigious awards presented and winners during the night are as stated below :

* Individuals / Teams / Groups who have gained recognition and achievement in sports and co-curriculum  events/competitions.

* Individuals / Teams / Groups who have gained recognition and achievement in sports and co-curriculum  events/competitions.

  1. BEST CLUB/SOCIETY 2007

-          Persatuan Seni Silat Cekak Malaysia UTP

-          Young Entrepreneurs Club

-          MEDTECH Club

* Club / Society which have successfully carried out all their planned activities / programmes, gained recognition and awards / accolades and able to contribute not only to the university but also to the community and other organisations.

 

  1. SPECIAL APPRECIATION

- Rusydina bt. Rashid

-     Performed with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra in the inaugural GALA Concert in PETRONAS Philharmonic Orchestra Hall. Rusydina who has been performing with the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra since September 2006, made her debut in the GALA concert which was attended by Y.A.Bhg Tun Dr Siti Hasmah and Y.Bhg Puan Sri Datin Seri Noor Ainee Che Teh.

* Individuals / Teams / Groups who have gained special recognition or achievement at national level and contribute not only towards the university but also to the community and other organisation.

-     ASEAN Varsity Boat Race, Putrajaya, Malaysia Rowing – Women Single             Champion

-     UNITEN Invitation Rowing Championship, Putrajaya – Women Single                     2nd Place

-     Universiti Malaya Duathlon – Women Varsity                                                        2nd Place

-     Perhentian Island Challenge, Terengganu – Elite Mixed                                         5th Place

-     South East Asian Rowing Federation Championship, Thailand – Women Single      5th Place

 

-          Syafiq Sulaiman

-     SIRKIT CEMERLANG 2007 Universiti Malaya                                           50M, 100M, 200M (Gold)

       * Break MASUM Record

-     MMU Open Swimming – Grand Master                                                    50M, 100M, 200M (Gold)
