UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS (UTP) HARI RAYA & DEEPAVALI GATHERING

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS held a Hari Raya & Deepavali gathering on 18 November 2006 at the Plaza of Chancellor Complex. Held annually to celebrate and to strengthen ties in the true spirit of the festivals, over 1000 guests comprising UTP staff and their family members attended this joyous occasion. 60 orphans from Rumah Anak Yatim Bait Al-Amin, Parit, Perak were also invited to celebrate the event which was co-organised by PETRONITA Cawangan Perak and Kelab Sosial dan Kebajikan Kakitangan UTP (KSKKU).
On hand to personally greet the guests were Dr Zainal Abidin B Hj Kasim, Rector of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS accompanied by his wife, Puan Rosemi bt Hamdan who is also The Chairman of PETRONITA Cawangan Perak and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Noh Karsiti, President of KSKKU.
All guests were dressed up in their colourful traditional attire. They were served with Malay and Indian specialties such as the rendang, ketupat, puree, briyani rice, and satay.Special performances by staff added to the festive atmosphere. To further add to the jovial mood of the occasion, the best dressed attendees were presented with prizes.
The gathering was also to bid safe journey to those who will be leaving for their pilgrimage in Mecca and to present special gifts to the newlyweds, children of staff who scored in UPSR, PMR, SPM and STPM and staff who have completed their studies on their own initiative. Later, the children were presented with duit raya.
