UTP STUDENT WON TUNKU AWARD 2008

It is another success story for Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) when one of its students was accorded Tunku Abdul Rahman Award during the Majlis Makan Amal Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman 2008 which was held on 5 February 2008 at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.  The awards were presented by Y.B. Datuk Ong Tee Keat, Deputy Minister of Higher Education.

Two streams of awards were presented during the event; the Tunku Awards were presented to students who have shown excellence in academic, co-curriculum activities and leadership. The second award, which is Tan Sri Khir Johari Award were awarded to students who had experienced exceptional personal difficulties in the form of barriers/ impedances/ hurdles or handicaps but still managed to achieve excellent academic results.

 

Mohd Fairuz b Azman, the recipient of Tunku Award graduated in August 2007 with a Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. He who obtained a First Class Honours with a CGPA of 3.77 was the recipient of the Gold Chancellor Award during the Seventh Convocation ceremonyMohd Fairuz who is currently working at PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd walked away with a certificate, gold medal and RM3000 cash saving sponsored by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).
