MISSION AWARENESS PROGRAM & INSTEP-UTP TECHNICAL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

Mission Awareness Program 2007 (MAP 2007)
MAP was organized from the 10 – 14 December 2007 at Kg. Teluk Berembang, Pulau Tuba, Langkawi, Kedah by the International Student Unit of Student Support Services Department together with the Student Representative Council of UTP involving 80 students (International - Egypt, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Turkmenistan, Sudan, Chad, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam + Local).


One of the objectives of the 5 day home stay – foster family program was to generate healthy social integration and understanding between the local, international and surrounding community plus to instill awareness on their social roles and responsibilities towards developing into a mature and caring society.
Various activities were carried out which include motivational talks conducted by our students to the local teenagers + school children, community work, outdoor activities and others. The new experience gained would indeed assist them in becoming better individuals besides realizing their social obligation and types of contribution that they can offer to the community in order to make this world a better place.


INSTEP-UTP Technical Holiday Program 2007
This program was held from the 3 – 16 December 2007 at INSTEP, Batu Rakit and PETRONAS plants at Kerteh involving 40 students including International students from Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sudan and Chad. The main objective of the program was to expose students to the working environment and various activities / programs / projects carried out by PETRONAS relating to the oil, gas & petrochemical industry.
Activities carried out include lectures & based presentation pertaining petroleum industry (downstream & upstream), group exercises and assignments, workshops conducted at selected labs to gain more information on related processes, electrical + instrument and mechanical elements pertaining to the petrochemical industry, social town visits to Kota Bahru and Kuala Terengganu, community projects at Taman Sinar Harapan (Orphanage for disabled children) and educational visit to Kerteh


(PETRONAS East Coast Regional Office, PETRONAS Mini Museum, Gas Export Terminal etc.).
The closing ceremony and appreciation dinner was held on the 15 December 2007 at Merang Suria Resort which was attended by En. Marfauza Mat Jusoh (representing UTP) and En. Mansor Ali + En. Mohd Azmi Abdul Rahman (representing INSTEP).
