  • What is the fine structures for Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS Library System?

  • What if I disagree with the libraries loan records?

A fine inquiry may be placed when items you believed you have returned still appear on your patron record. An inquiry may be made personally at the Circulation Counter or to any Customer Services Executive in charge.

 

  • When is a book overdued?

      A book is overdue if you do not return or renew it on or before the item's due date.

 

  • Will the Library remind me that I have overdue item?

Please keep in mind that you are solely responsible for keeping track of your loaned items due date. To obtain the due date information, you can access your patron record through MyPrecise, referring to the stamp in the back of the book, or the self-check out receipt slips. Library System will automatically send a courtesy email reminder notice prior 7 days before the due date and if the item is not returned after the due date, an overdue notice will be automatically emailed to you for three (3) times:-

    • 1st notice will be sent 1 day after due date.
    • 2nd notice 7 days after the 1st overdue notice.
    • 3rd notice 7 days after the 2nd overdue notice.

Please do not reply each email reminders send to you. Patrons are solely responsible for paying fines regardless if they had received a notice reminder or not. In order to ensure that you will receive these notices, please maintain your preferred email address in MyPrecise. For updating your email, please go to Circulation Counter at Level G, IRC.

 

  • What charges do I have to incur?

For each overdue item the charges are different according to collection type (fine rate). Fine charges are for each day the item was overdued, beginning the day after the due date.

 

  • Will fine charges be accumulated on Sundays and during public holidays?

No. The library system will not accumulate fines on Sundays and during public holidays.

 

  • What happens if I don’t pay my fine right away?

If you owed IRC over RM10, you will be blocked from borrowing or renewing all items from IRC.

 

  • Where and how do I pay overdue fines?

All library fines should be paid at IRC Circulation Counter, Level G and cash is the only accepted terms of payment. Payment receipt will then be issued to you once fines are collected.

 

  • What is a “LOST” item?

Ø      An item that is reported lost by the borrower

 

  • What if I had lost an IRC item?

Please report and fill up the “Lost Material Report Form” at the Circulation Counter immediately so that no further overdue fines are assessed.

 

  • What if I had lost an accompanying CD or diskette?

Accompanying CD and diskette is a complimentary item which comes with book when purchased, so you have to either purchase the book or submit us the lost CD/diskette or if the book is no longer available in the market, you have to pay for the book full price.

 

  • What charges do I have to incur?

You have two options either to pay cash or to replace the item. The fees according to the Lost Book Replacement Policy are as follows:

Option 1

Processing Fee RM20.00  +

Item price (current price or  whichever higher)  +

Overdue fine (if any)

Option 2

Processing Fee RM15.00  +

New replacement (same title & author /same ISBN or latest edition) +

Overdue fine (if any)

 

  • How can I know the cost of the item which I had lost?
IRC will inform you by email or phone on the full amount for not more than 3 days after a report have been made.

 

  • What should I do if I find the item later?

If you find the item before paying the charges, you may bring the item to the Circulation Counter, IRC and you will be charged only for the overdue fines if you have any. IRC will waive the replacement and processing fees.

If you find the item within 30 days after having paid the lost charges, you may bring the item and payment receipt to the Circulation Counter. IRC will then check the status and if the item has not been replaced, you will receive the full refund for the cost incurred inclusive of the item price and processing fees.

 

  • How do a lost item affect my borrowing privileges?

Once an item has been declared “LOST”, you are not allowed to borrow or renew any IRC materials. Your membership account will then be temporarily blocked. To reinstate your privileges, you must pay all fees associated with the lost item or “return” the lost item together with the overdue fines.

 

  • Where and how do I pay for the lost item fines?

You should make your payment at IRC Circulation Counter and cash is the accepted terms of payment. Payment receipt will then be issued to you once all fees are collected.
