FACILITIES

Auditorium

A ninety-nine (99) seating capacity auditorium is available at the Basement Level. The auditorium is equipped with Live Tele-conferencing facilities and suitable for organising small seminars or monthly talks. For usage, reservation should be made a week earlier at Automation and Multimedia Office, Level 3 (ext 8474) or email.

Self Check Machine

Two (2) units of Self Check Machine are located at Level G. These machines offer self-operated and private item check-out using UTP Student or Staff cards.

Discussion Room

IRC has six (6) Discussion Rooms that are located on most of the floors. Every usage of these rooms must be registered at the Circulation Counter, Level G. Booking of Discussion Room MUST be done on the day of the usage only.

Carrels

Each level in IRC has carrel facilities. At Level 3, ten (10) AV carrel facilities are provided for users to view and listen to various AV and media resources individually. However, user must register their name at Multimedia Collection, Level 3 prior to the usage. Closed carrels with locker facilities are provided for postgraduate students at Level 2 and Level 3.

Lockers

Three hundred and twenty (320) lockable lockers are provided at the Basement Level. Only twenty seven (27) lockers are provided for rental basis per semester and eight (8) for daily rental of RM0.20 per day per locker. An amount of deposit had to be paid for the semester rental basis service. The rest of the balance lockers are free for usage. In additions, there are also another fifty-six (56) units of pigeon holes available for users free of charge.

E-Resources

Three (3) PC terminals located next to book shelves bridges at each level (except Level G, 1M and 2M) are available for quick and fast Internet browsing. In addition, another six (6) E-Resources terminals were also provided at Level G next to User Advisory. These terminals are also equipped with MS Office and printing facilities. The printer is located at Circulation Counter, Level G with a minimum charges of RM0.20 per printing.

WebOPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue)

IRC provides twenty-three (23) terminals for WebOPAC facitiles. Fourteen (14) terminals are located at Level G and another nine (9) terminals are available next to book shelves bridges at each Level 1, 2 and 3 respectively. This Web-based search engine also provides access to all PETRONAS Group-wide Resource Centres items and online databases. On the other hand, WebOPAC is also available through all other PCs in IT Zone and E-Resources. In additions, users can also access our WebOPAC using mobile gadget or PDA via AirPAC.

Internet@IT Zone

IRC has two hundred and twenty-five (255) ports for Internet facility. The ports are located at IT Zone and reading areas on each Level G, 1, 2 and 3. Currently there are only fifty (50) PC terminals are available in IRC and there are all located on IT Zone, Level G. Users can only log-in to the terminals using their Student ID and password given by IT & Media Services Department.

WiFi Facilities

The whole Chancellor Complex area (IRC and Chancellor Hall) is covered by TMNet wireless hotspot called Streamyx ZONE. Users can access this wireless facilities by using Student ID (e.g. utp11011) and password or any TMNet Prepaid Cards available in the market.

IT Training Zone

Located at Level 3, this area is equipped with a trainer PC together with twelve (12) other trainees' PCs and an electronic white board. For usage, reservation should be made a week earlier at Automation and Multimedia Office, Level 3 (ext 8474) or email.

Photocopy

A Self-operated photocopy machine is available using a prepaid card system. The prepaid cards are available at Circulation Counter, Level G for RM20.00 per piece (150 copies plus RM5.00 deposit). Each card can be topped up for RM15.00 after it is fully utilised.

Printing

Printing services are available for six (6) E-Resources terminals next to User Advisory, Level G. Users are charged for RM0.20 per printing.

Newspaper Reading Area

Located at Level G, this area is furnished with settee for newspapers reading and TV viewing leisure. Newspapers subscribed are Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, New Straits Times, The STAR, Nan Yang Siang Pau and Sin Chew Daily. For archive search, user may view NSTPOnline or visit the User Advisory, Level 1 for full text articles.
